Unfortunately it took me until the grand finale of the entire series (although there’s allegedly a new GoW game in the works) to actually finally get into God of War myself. But I will admit that this entire series, and Kratos himself, were with me my whole life, whether I liked it or not.

Back when I was a mere child in late 00’s, I witnessed someone play the very first videogame I ever saw - God of War 2. I vividly recall the colossus fight, struggling to do it myself as well, but I had no idea the game would be my driving point to start playing the God of War games.

And a few years later, when I was in the hospital, still a pre-teen, someone had a PSP with what I presume was either Chains of Olympus, or Ghost of Sparta. I did not know what it was, but now that I recall it, I can testify that it was, most definitely, a GoW game.

Fast forward to 2018, when I was 14-15, God of War 2018 came out. All the “boy” memes that I recall.

And years later, I kept hearing about GoW Ragnarok and how amazing it is.

I knew God of War was a really cool series, but I kept postponing it. Eventually I decided that it was time to finally play a game series I keep seeing everywhere. That is when I got myself God of War 2018 and played through it. While now I consider that game to be one of the weakest in the entire franchise (in comparison), it was the game I considered to be THE BEST I’ve ever played at the time. Though I will admit - the 2018 depiction of Kratos was not something I fell in love with.

It took me until playing through God of War II (that was the first I started with in Greek era, because of the aforementioned colossus fight) to really fall in love with the man I now revere and idolise.

I won’t hide it - I am deeply in love with the crazed, maniacal, bloodthirsty warmonger of the Greek era. My longing appreciation for the Norse era only comes when I take into account who he was. (Which makes sense.) Honestly, the only thing I really love Norse era for is that it makes me cry every time, because I still deal with a ton of unresolved issues when it comes to betrayals, anger problems and trust issues of my own. (Kratos, save me.)

What I actually mean by that is that I don’t stand by the daddy Kratos, gimme that raw crust of the Greek era and those wide shoulders and the narrow Greek waist /silly
